Requirements: Player must demonstrate ample coordination for basic footwork, movement, and racquet control, and can consistently hit the ball over the mini-net.
Taught (typically) with mini-nets and low-compression tennis balls. But not a requirement
Focus: Coordination drills, ground-strokes and volleys, and games Warm-up/coordination activity, strokes, closing game/activity Goal: Develop footwork and refine groundstrokes and volleys.
BIG HITTERS
Ages 7-11
Focus: Learning the fundamental strokes of ground-strokes and volleys in conjunction with proper movement/footwork. Drills and games are played on the regular court; low-compression balls are often used to improve success in drills and games
TOURNAMENT TOUGH
Ages 9-12
Requirements: Players have already developed a well-rounded game with clean strokes, can maintain a rally, serve consistently, and have match experience.
Focus: Drilling, conditioning, live-ball games, and some match-play. There is a stronger emphasis on implementing effective game strategy for singles and doubles
